British designer Rodney Kinsman, who studied at the Central School of Art London before setting up his own studio, OMK, in 1964. OMK specialises in public seating for airports and other commercial furniture.
A stacking chair with a pressed sheet-steel seat and back powdercoated in numerous colours.
What makes it special
The OMKstak is the most well-known of Kinsman’s early designs, showing a lovely lightness of materials. The moulded seat and back punched with holes reference chairs from pressed aluminium from the 1930s by the likesof Gerrit Rietveld and Hans Coray, but in glossy colours the chair takes on a ‘70s pop-art feel.
