The form

A light in chrome and shaped flat steel with black lacquer coating. It can be adjusted up or down and the chrome-plated stem and shade can be swivelled.

Designed by

Italian-born futurist Joe Colombo, who had radical ideas about how people would live by the end of the century. He was also a pioneering researcher into new materials.

What makes it special

It was designed in 1966 and won a Compasso D’oro at the prestigious ADI awards in 1967. The original manufacturer, O’Luce, reissued it as a limited edition item to coincide with a retrospective of Colombo’s work at the 2005 Milan Triennale.
